Previously called the ‘Cape Robin’, these charming little birds are common residents in South Africa. They are shy and keep mostly to dense undergrowth, flying away quickly when disturbed. When danger is sensed they flick their tails up. Robins are delightful visitors to suburban gardens. They rustle leaves on the ground, looking for insects, spiders, worms small frogs and lizards. They also eat fruit.
