Renamed ‘Black-faced Waxbills’ , these smallish birds are found in the northern areas of South Africa, Namibia and in Botswana. They prefer riverine thornbush, especially in dryer areas and Acacia savanna. They are often seen in the company of Blue Waxbills. They are usually in small flocks or in pairs when breeding. Like all Waxbills they forage on or near the ground.
